2 Theme The effects of workspace on individuals and groups are still relatively underexplored by organizational scholars. This symposium adopts a multi-disciplinary approach, bringing together international experts from the fields of Architecture, Environmental Psychology and Organizational Behavior. Academic and practitioner insights are combined, bridging the gap between theory and practical applications.

3 Objectives Highlight the importance of the design of the physical work environment and to draw out some of the key organizational issues that it can impact upon. Present case studies and practical experience of workspace design and evaluation. Draw attention to the development and progression of the domain. Consider the impact of new office designs on employee productivity and organizational effectiveness Outline strategies for successfully managing workspace change Discuss methodological approaches to studying the physical environment. Spark debate regarding the future of research and practice into the design and evaluation of the physical work environment. Explore links to other areas of organizational theory and practice.
