Institute for Advanced Aerospace Technologies A California Consortium of Universities, Industry and Government Pictures

Institute for Advanced Aerospace Technologies ●Charter  Focused, aerospace-related research by a consortium composed of government, industry, and universities.  Facilitate critical research and/or technology development of interest to industry and government agencies Environment compliant with proprietary, ITAR and/or DoD classification. Capabilities to perform experimental testing, theory, and simulations of emerging technologies and concepts. Develop research that requires intellectual property protection. Leverage potential commercialization opportunities.  Offer education opportunities across multidiscipline aerospace technologies. Industry and University research participation via internships and/or research assistantships. Specialized/focused subject courses for industry and government engineers Provide short term research opportunities at the Institute for the Government, Industry, and University community.  Promote aerospace science and engineering, provide public outreach, and stimulate public awareness of the value of the field.

Research and Development in Critical Technologies Supporting Customer Capability Obtainment ●We consider developing an Institute focused on the research and development of critical technologies with extended maturation timelines. Critical Technologies PlatformsCapabilities Aircraft including UAVs Launch vehicles Spacecraft/Satellites Aeronautics and Space Vehicle Technologies Communication, Sensing, Navigation, and Guidance Technologies Global Reach Time Critical Targets Terrestrial Planet Finder Surveillance

Institute’s Benefits ●UCLA lead for Consortium ●Centrally located (El Segundo/LAAFB) ●To provide Universities a mechanism to perform research within an ITAR environment. ●To provide Industry with superior and leveraged capabilities to perform research and development of critical technologies.  Research training of students in areas where industry has future employment needs ●To continue the nation in maintaining its preeminence in aerospace technology.

Issues for this meeting ●What critical technologies are you planning to invest in over the next decade that could be enhanced by participating in this Institute?  Leverage IR&D Dollars with Joint Government Grants Transition of University Research Investment by the State of California(?) ●What mechanisms should be incorporated into the Institute that would benefit your organization?
