Voodoo  Haiti's most common religion is Voodoo.  About half of Haiti's population practices voodoo.  Voodoo involves the spirits of the ancestors, or "Loa"  The Loa are known to enter peoples' bodies and put them in a trance.  During ceremonies, animals such as chickens are sacrificed for the Loa. Slaves shipped from Africa were not allowed to practice African religions, so they developed voodoo,which is similar to Roman Catholicism, and fooled the slave masters.
