1 Printing: Your printer might not print the same way our printers do, so make sure to try a couple of test prints. If things aren’t aligning quite right, experiment with the Scale to Fit Paper setting. It’s located in the Print dialog – just click Full Page Slides to get to it. And did you notice we made fold marks for you? They are really light, but if you don’t like them showing on your brochure, click View, Slide Master, and delete them before you print. Customizing the Content: If you need more placeholders for titles, subtitles or body text, just make a copy of what you need and drag it into place. PowerPoint’s Smart Guides will help you align it with everything else. By the way, if you need to move or copy the red lines, you can select them by clicking the dotted outlines. What is Leprosy Leprosy, also known as Hansen’s disease, is an infection that affects the skin, nerves, eyes and nose. Leprosy is passed from one person to another from droplets of the noise or mouth or by skin to skin contact over long periods of time. Leprosy is not very contagious. If you see a doctor when the lesions first appear, it is curable. What Should You Look For: Patches (lesions) on skin that are reddish or pale in color. Decreased feeling on the patches. Possible loss of feeling in the hands and feet. How is Leprosy Diagnosed By your symptoms By a positive smear test What is a Smear Test The doctor or nurse will take a sample of tissue from your lesion and look at it under a microscope. Who’s at Risk Children are at greater risk, but anyone can get Leprosy. People that live in tropical areas If you have been in close contact with someone with Leprosy Self Care Measures Your skin may get dry, cracked, or injured Keep skin clean, dry, and use lotion daily. Wear shoes that fit. Wear gloves if cold or working. Goal of Self Care To minimize your risk for injury and infection. About Your Medicine Your doctor will give you medicine called MDT. MDT means mutli-drug therapy. See the World Health Organization link in the resource section for more information on MDT. There will be two or three different pills in your pack depending on the how many patches or what your symptoms are. Take the medicine exactly how the doctor told you. Do not stop your medicine unless your doctor tells you to. You may have to take your medicine for six months to a year. Goal of Medication To cure you of Leprosy Common Side Effects of MDT Skin may turn darker, this goes away once you finish your medicine. Your urine may turn red depending on which medicine your doctor gives you. This goes away. Call Your Doctor if You: Develop itching after you start your medicine. Develop a fever. Develop ulcers (open wounds) on your feet. Develop decreased feeling in hands, feet, or eyes. Can not blink your eyes Have facial drooping Have nose bleeds Develop increase weakness or become tired all the time. Develop shortness of breath. Develop more patches. Develop joint pain.
