3 Common Core Standards 3.RL.1- Ask and answer questions to demonstrate understanding of a text, referring explicitly to the text as the basis for the answers. 3.W.2- Write informative/explanatory texts to examine a topic and convey ideas and information clearly. a. Introduce a topic and group related information together; include illustrations when useful to aiding comprehension. b. Develop the topic with facts, definitions, and details. d. Provide a concluding statement or section Introduce dinosaurs to class and have students share what they know with their classmates. Your main focus is to answer questions, explain tasks that will be assigned and observe and guide students if they seem unsure. Student evaluation

4 Task: Welcome dinosaur explorers! As a team, you will each choose a role and work together to create, your own dinosaur and brief biography. Roles (3): 1. Bone collector: You will go on a scavenger hunt and collect bones from the giant sensory table. 2. Researcher: You will collect and research the various bones found by #1 and go on a site to collect data. 3. Creative task: Create a visual aid, to create a visual of the dinosaur.

5 Step 1: What do you know? Students will share ideas with their peers and go up to the board and write down one thing they know about dinosaurs. Step 2: Choose your duty. Assign roles. There will be 3 students in each group. Roles

6 Bone collector: You will have 5-8 minutes to go on a scavenger hunt in the sensory table. A link is provided to show how real dinosaur bones are found and dug out. Each bone will have a tag that will name that specific bone.
