2 The northern lights are the result of collisions between gassiness particles In the earths atmosphere with charged particles released from the suns atmosphere. 3 The northern lights comes from some Latin words. aurora is he name of the roman goddess of dawn, later it became the word for dawn it’s self. Borealis is a Latin word for the north. 4 People had many different beliefs about what the northern lights were. The lutes told tales of dead souls playing walrus skull soccer in the sky. According to a Chinese myth, the lights were fighting dragons. Russians believed them to be a sign of child birth, while the Greeks believed them to be a sign of war.
