2 Copy this Overview A wave is a disturbance that transfers energy Because of the L of CE, the energy travels through the wave and/or gets transformed into thermal energy due to friction (why sound is distorted) There are different types and categories of waves Different mediums affect the wave speed With no medium (through space) EM waves travel at the speed of light/light speed (300,000 km per second or 670,000,000 mph) EM waves are how the suns energy gets to Earth Light year – how far light travels in a year (it is a distance measurement…about 9.5 trillion kilometers or 5.88 trillion miles)
