In the pond were three beautiful white birds with long graceful necks. "Maybe they will let me swim with them, even though I am just a duckling," he thought. As he moved into the pond, he looked at his reflection in the water. 9

The ugly duckling was not a duck after all. He was a swan! All of the other swans in the pond gathered round him and honked to welcome him. For the first time, he felt right at home. 10
