Eggs hatching sound B.Ducklings quacking sound It was a warm summer day, and a mother duck was watching over her eggs. She was excited as the eggs began to crack open, and she quickly counted one, two, three, four, five, six brand new yellow baby ducklings! 1

A.Goose laugh B.Duckling tug-of-war Many of the birds at the pond made fun of the big gray duckling. "Look at the big ugly duckling!" teased a goose. The little duck ignored the goose and swam off to explore the pond. 4

"You look lonely, little one," said one goose. Then, a loud BARK was heard, and the youngster covered his head with his wings as the geese flew away 5

Duckling "Hmmph" sound The bark was from a huge dog, who sniffed at the duckling, who was now puffing his chest. The dog barked and ran off. "At least I am too tough and ugly to be eaten!" the duckling thought to himself. 6

He saw a cat in the hay loft and decided he should look for a safer home. 7

A girl found him, and her father explained that baby birds should keep close to their mother to survive, but this one could stay in a warm pen in the shed until he was old enough to make it on his own. 8

C.Touch ugly and he looks at reflection in water which reflects that he looks like them. The next spring, the girl released her friend at the pond. In the pond were three beautiful white birds with long graceful necks. "Maybe they will let me swim with them, even though I am just a duckling," he thought. As he moved into the pond, he looked at his reflection in the water. 9

C.Touch other swans and they honk as well. A.Duckling honk sound B. Swan honk sound During the year, he had grown larger and looked the same as these white birds in the pond! The ugly duckling was not a duck after all. He was a swan! All of the other swans in the pond gathered round him and honked to welcome him. For the first time, he felt right at home. 10

A.Dog bark sound B.Swan honk The girl who helped him came with her sister to the pond and exclaimed, “There is our new swan, and he is the most beautiful of them all!" The ugly duckling had never felt such happiness in his whole life. 11
