1 To Teach, or Not to Teach IT’S NOT A QUESTION

2 INTASC STANDARD #9: Professional Learning and Ethical Practice  Description: In this PowerPoint, I will explain the impressions made upon me by the teachers I’ve learned from, and how they influenced me to become a teacher. I will also describe my philosophy as a teacher and my ideal student.  Rationale: I chose Standard 9 because I have a strong drive to become a teacher and this will force me to stay honest with myself on my performance and encourage me to keep improving.

3 Who would want to be a TEACHER?! Once in a while our school has half days, and the teachers spend the afternoon 'in service,' which I think must be a group therapy for having to deal with us” ― Neal Shusterman, Bruiser “A true teacher is one who, keeping the past alive, is also able to understand the present.” -Confucius "The dream begins, most of the time, with a teacher who believes in you, who tugs and pushes and leads you on to the next plateau, sometimes poking you with a sharp stick called truth."--Dan Rather

8 So you think you can Teach? “Doesn't matter what the press says. Doesn't matter what the politicians or the mobs say. Doesn't matter if the whole country decides that something wrong is something right. This nation was founded on one principle above all else: the requirement that we stand up for what we believe, no matter the odds or the consequences. When the mob and the press and the whole world tell you to move, your job is to plant yourself like a tree beside the river of truth, and tell the whole world” — "No, you move."
