3 Supporting your cadet through the application… Review the College Counseling Handbook If there is uncertainty in this process, help your cadet minimize stress, provide assurance, and help them maintain perspective and organization. Take multiple factors into account when creating a college application list and remember that the college should be the best fit for your cadet. Encourage independence, but continue to monitor academics and be aware of “senioritis.” Senior grades are critical for college admission. Communicate honestly with your cadet about college criteria (cost, location, etc.)

17 To log in go to the ANA College Counseling page, click on the “Naviance Log In” tab on the middle-right hand side. Username is permanent ID # with a p at the end of the number Password is the students 6 digit birthdate ( i.e., 5/03/1995)

18 Letters of recommendation may be required for Private universities* Out-of-state colleges Scholarships Special programs or majors *All Common Application schools require letter s of recommendation. Letters of recommendation are not required/accepted for UC/CSU. How Do I Request a Letter of Recommendation? -Refer to the “Letter of Recommendation” page on your Naviance homepage. 19 Official Transcripts Complete transcript request form Bring to the registrar, Ms. Erickson, to be mailed (provide stamped, addressed envelope) or picked up, with 24-48 hours processing time. **Any college courses or off campus classes which have not been posted on the ANA transcript, students must contact the other school directly to have an official transcript sent to colleges.

20 Sending Test Scores All scores to colleges must be sent by the cadet  Cadets need to log into their College Board or ACT account to send scores The Academy cannot send official test scores to colleges

21 Do Colleges Really Care about Senior Grades???  Absolutely! Colleges expect to see performance that indicates an applicant is ready for college-level work.  12 th grade classes are reported on application  Mid-year reports  Any D or F in a core class may jeopardize admission, even if already accepted

22 Senior Checklist October 1-6: Week 1 List of schools: Determine which schools you are applying to (3 Reach, 3 Probable, 3 Likely). Obtain Transcript from Counselor (Do you have any classes to make up or to take over online? If so, discuss your options with your counselor) SAT I and II’s: Sign up for the November SAT or SAT II
