1. Comparing and Contrasting Vietnam and Australia
Today we are going to compare and contrast Vietnam with Australia in the following categories- population, capital, government, language, currency, annual income per person, main industries, main exports and imports, life expectancies, adult literacy, religion, ethnic groups, celebrations, traditions and last but not least, my favourite, the FOOD!

2. Population
People think that a country with a huge population has too be big right, but that is not the case with Vietnam.
Vietnam’s population is 89,693,000 million people.
Australia’s population is 4 times smaller than Vietnam at 23,392,679 million people.
271 people are in Vietnam per square metre and Australia only has 3 people per square metre

Both countries have big capitals but Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam is way, way bigger than Canberra , the capital of Australia.
In 2010 Hanoi’s estimated population was 6.5 million
In 2013 Canberra’s estimated population was 374,245

4. Government Government House for the Social Republic
Vietnam follows a single state party, the Social Republic(Liberal Democratic State), which means each person gets to elect a new government
Australia follows the federal Parliamentary, which is also democratic, who is controlled by the constitutional monarchy, the high leader of the parliament, who is the queen (Queen Elizabeth the second)

5. English Vietnamese Languages
Languages Spoken in Australia are English (Main Language) and Indigenous (Aboriginals, First people who lived in Australia)
The main language spoken in Vietnam is Vietnamese or tiếng việt (If you know how to speak Vietnamese)

6. Đồng Australian dollar Currency
If you had about 5 Australian dollar it’s about 1 million Đồng which is a lot in Vietnam but it’s not a lot in Australia.

7. Annual income per person
Like some other countries from Southeast Asia are rural and poor not like Australia where you get good income and food.
The annual income per person for Vietnam is $ American Dollars(About $80,000,000 Đồng)

8. One of Vietnam’s Rice fields
Main Industries
Vietnam’s rice industries are one of the biggest ones in the World, no wonder they love eating rice with fish.
Rice production is one of the most important industry in Vietnam
Australia’s main industries are mostly technology, agriculture, mining, insurance, aviation and telecommunication

9. Main Imports and Exports
Australia and Asia are good friends when it come to trading. Asia exports goods and services in return for some industry machinery from Australia.
Vietnam exports mobile phones, iron, steel and crude oil
Australia exports industry machinery and imports goods and services from Asia including Vietnam.

10. Life Expectancies
You can see that Australians live longer than Vietnamese. One reason for the high Viet mortality is because of the water which is filled with germs and contaminated with bacteria.
The average life expectancy for Australia is 82 years
The average for Vietnamese males is 72 years and females 76 years

11. Adult literacy
You can see that Australia is slightly smarter than Vietnam but remember that Vietnam is 4 times more populated than Australia.
96% of 15 years old Australians can read and write brief texts on familiar topics
94% of 15 years old Vietnamese can read and write.

12. Religions
Buddhism and Roman Catholicism are the common ones in Australia but Buddhism is less common in Australia

Australia is multi-cultural country so lots of people from Asia, Europe and Africa migrate or come to Australia to live

Both countries take their celebrations very seriously and do the best
Tết is a very well known celebration in Asia and Vietnam takes it very seriously
Tết is celebrated on the 1st of February according to the Lunar Calendar
Anzac day and Australia day are some of the most important celebrations in Australia.

16. Food!
Phở is the most populist dish in Vietnam which consists of a mouth watering broth, rice noodles, meat and salad served on the side.
Pavlova is one of Australia’s most delicious dessert that just melts in your mouth when you bite into one.
