2 SupermarineSpitfireSupermarineSpitfire The Supermarine Spitfire was a single-seat fighter plane that was used by the British during the Second World War. It was designed by R.J. Mitchell and first took flight on the 5 th March 1936. It was the fastest aircraft in World War 2. It was mostly used by the RAF (Royal Air Force) however was also used by the Royal Navy. The plane was retired in 1961.

3 AvroLancasterAvroLancaster The Avro Lancaster was a British 4 engined heavy bomber plane. It was built by Avro and used by the RAF. It was designed by Roy Chadwick and first took flight on the 9 th January 1941. There was approximately 7,377 built and was the most successful bomber in WW2. it was eventually retired in 1963 in Canada.

4 HawkerHurricaneHawkerHurricane The Hawker Hurricane was a single-seat fighter aircraft built by Hawker Aircraft. It was designed by Sydney Camm and first took flight on the 6 th November 1935. It was produced between 1937- 1944 and there was 14,583 produced worldwide. There are 12 of the 14,583 built still left in the world.

5 De Havilland Mosquito The De Havilland Mosquito was a British multi-role combat aircraft and first took flight on the 25 th November 1940. it was produced between 1940-1950 and was used by the RAF and the Royal Navy. 7,781 were built worldwide. In 1950 the RAF replaced the Mosquito by the English Electric Canberra and soon after was retired.

6 North American B-25 Mitchell Although the North American B-25 Mitchell was designed and built in America it was actually used by the British during World War 2. It was a medium bomber plane and first took flight on the 19 th August 1940. 9,816 were made during and after the war. The plane made in America retired in 1979 in Indonesia.
