3 Starting of LIS Education in India  FIRST Training class in India – at Imperial Library( Now National Library) Kolkata, in 1901 by John Macfarlac.  FIRST Library school – 1911 - W.A. Borden, American Librarian, first class in Central Library, Baroda.  FIRST University Level class – 1915 – A. Dickenson, American Librarian - Punjab University, Lahore( now in Pakistan).

13 Conclusion / Suggestions  Make students aware of the dignity of the profession.  Explore new methods for developing skills and leadership qualities.  Explore possibilities for improving service deliveries.  Attract bright and creative students and teachers into this noble profession.  Encourage more refresher classes, C.E. etc.
