GameReady  The GameReady is a circumferential cryo-compression unit  The GameReady does not get as cold as ice Temp: 10-25 º C (~55° F) Has 3 settings for pressure and time ○ High(5-75mmHg): ~2-3 min inflation / 1 min deflation ○ Medium(5-50 mmHg): ~ 2-3 min inflation / 1 min deflation ○ Low(5-15 mmHg): ~4-5 min inflation / 1 minute deflation

Indications/Contraindications Note: Because GameReady does not get as cold as ice, this treatment can be used on individuals with Reynaud’s  DO use GameReady: Post traumatic edema Lymphedema Chronic/pitting edema Post-surgical edema  DON’T use GameReady: Acute/unstable fractures Compartment syndromes Peripheral vascular disease, arteriosclerosis Deep Vein Thrombosis Local superficial infections Heart failure, acute pulmonary edema

Why use GameReady?  Cryo-compression facilitates lymphatic update and return when edema is present The mechanical pressure forces fluids within venous system back towards the heart  There is evidence that intermittent compression, elevation, and cold combined reduce edema more than cryotherapy alone  Can be used on different areas of the body (ankle, leg, back, etc)

Patient Education  It is important to talk to the patient before treatment and let them know of possible sensations during treatment time: Explain that the unit will get cold, and might feel tingly/painful for a moment, possible numbness Explain that the cuff will fill up with cold water, causing it to inflate and create some pressure on the body part, followed by a minute of deflation

GameReady Set Up  Step 1: Open compartment Fill with water to line first Add ice, fill up the entire compartment Close compartment and wipe off excess ice/water

GameReady Set Up  Step 2: Plug power cord into wall, then plug into GameReady unit Attach the hose to the unit, then attach the cuff to the hose

GameReady Set Up  Step 3: Patient should be in a comfortable position For a lateral ankle sprain, have patient lay on their back with a wedge under their legs to elevate the feet  Step 4: Put cuff on patient’s ankle Turn unit ON Choose pressure and time settings ○ Setting: High ○ Total Treatment Time: 15 minutes

After Treatment  Turn unit OFF  Remove cuff from patient  Can wrap area that was treated with an ace bandage to prevent edema from returning
