3 Map-based Application  An application which uses electronic maps to provide LBS, for example,  Navigation Getting to a specific single position Way-finding Most issues are related ‘Positioning’  Social activities Information Sharing Finding Friends Location based advertisement

4 Navigation  GUIDE project ( 2000, Cheverst )  Provide information of nearby objects Mobile device, GPS, WLAN  Cell-based communication infrastructure Beacon  George Square System ( BROWN et al.)  Applying concept of ‘pre-visiting’ rather than ‘walk up pop up’ The system supports viewing a place before actually getting destination

5 Social Activities  Google Panoramio, Urban Tapestry (2003, LANE)  Attach contents on physical location  GeoNotes (2001), MobiTip (2004)  Share information with others  Finding People  Tracking People

6 Discussion  Navigation Applications  Mostly, targets tourism scenario Users who don’t have enough knowledge about certain location or place  Not attractive to people who already have knowledge (Considering Indoor Environment)  Previous Researches treat indoor service and outdoor service are same problem Indoor-Outdoor seamless navigation is already existed Using Sensor Fusion Technical issue in implementing indoor navigation has not been found…  Social Activities  Insufficient to satisfying people’s social demand Passive social services There is no instant response

7 Strategy  Considering Indoor Navigation  Implementation Issues Place Modeling, Graph Coloring, Navigation Algorithm Cartography  Focus on Contents (minor issues) Finding common place in indoor e.g. Exit, Rest room, Smoke zone  Considering Supporting Social Activity  Make direct connection between users Chatting with anonymous person around user How can the system determine nearby person while protecting person’s privacy?

8 Look-at-me  Indicates user’s location on a map to nearby person’s mobile device  User can make direct connection with anonymous to ask help or some conversation I need help… There is a person asking help in following location
