6 Assessment Informal Monitor understanding throughout lesson sequence Monitor in-class participation and group collaboration Formal Collection and interpretation of electronic information Design and creation of a multimedia presentation Group Project - Elements to include in presentation: collage of text, hand drawn/photographic images, flag, flora/fauna, map. All projects to be linked by ribbon/cording to global map on wall.

7 Overview of Lesson sequence Lesson 1: Forms of Government – activity & discussion Lesson 2: Scaffold for research – atlas, internet, media article Lesson 3: Research Lesson 4: Assemble project Lesson 5: Student presentations

8 Assumptions Lesson One complete: Students previously rotated examined different forms of government OR group read one government and acted/described to class Students recorded key points – on worksheet - of each form of government Students to have completed homework: Students were required to contemplate the life of people living within each government type Students were to think/draw a mind-map of how they thought each government could be displayed graphically

9 Lesson 2 – Teaching & Learning Strategies 5 mins – Administration, settle class 5 mins – Introduce topic – forms of government Set questions to determine background knowledge Reconfirm teams from Lesson 1 10 mins – Scaffold instructions for case studies Dissect one case study for key points Demonstrate using atlas – continent, map outline, longitude/latitude, flag, other... Demonstrate google.com for website, articles (e.g. Syria) http://www.worldatlas.com
