1 THE PARTNER PROJECT DR. LAURIE DINNEBEIL THE UNIVERSITY OF TOLEDO Infusing ECSE Content Into Your Child Development Course

2 What is the Partner Project? Federally-funded by OSEP 4 year project beginning in January, 2012 Designed to assist community college faculty who want to enhance their early childhood curriculum to better prepare associate- degreed teachers to work with young children with diverse abilities

3 Objectives for this Webinar The purpose of tonight’s webinar is to:  Explore resources that early childhood higher education faculty members can use when they teach a class in Early Childhood Development (birth to age 8 years).  Identify ways to use these resources in courses on child development

4 NAEYC STANDARD 1. PROMOTING CHILD DEVELOPMENT AND LEARNING Candidates prepared in early childhood degree programs are grounded in a child development knowledge base. They use their understanding of young children’s characteristics and needs, and of multiple interacting influences on children’s development and learning, to create environments that are healthy, respectful, supportive, and challenging for each child. 1a: Knowing and understanding young children’s characteristics and needs, from birth through age 8. 1b: Knowing and understanding the multiple influences on early development and learning 1c: Using developmental knowledge to create healthy, respectful, supportive, and challenging learning environments for young children
