3 ‘Rights' Term ‘animal rights was first used in 1892. 100’s of organisations to protect the rights of animals, they all believe that animals deserve; -To live by their own nature -Not to be harmed -Not be exploited -Not to be abused K: What are animal rights? (Grade D)

4 Most animal rights campaigners believe that animals have the same rights as humans. Many disagree with using animals for sport, entertainment or factory farming. Disagreement on whether animals should be used for medical research and how protests should take place.

5 How are animals protected? Celebrate international animal rights day on Dec 10 th (day UN published declaration of human rights in 1948) Candlelit vigils Protest marches Letters to MP’s U: How do organisations support animal rights? (Grade C)

6 Who supports animal rights? In your groups you have an info sheet on one animal welfare group. You have 10 mins to summarise the information onto your sheet. Send an ambassador to the other tables to teach them about your organisation.
