Cookie Crunch By Azabeth & Raina

Aim We are trying to find out which baking tray makes the most delicious cookies. We will find this out by seeing which cookie is soft in the middle and crunchy on the outside.

Hypothesis We think the silicon tray will make the best cookies. We think this because real silicon trays are expensive.

Variables The only thing we changed in our fair test experiment was the types of trays we use. We kept everything else the same. Same temperature, time and level in the oven. Same cookie dough and putting baking paper on all of them. The trays we used were silicon, metal, glass and aluminium.

Control We used the aluminium as our control because it is the most common tray used.

equipment  Ruler  Aluminium tray  Silicon tray  Metal tray  Glass tray  Microwave  Oven  Egg beater  Tea towel  Measuring cups & spoons  Scales  Camera and timer  Baking paper  Bowls  Forks, spoons and knifes  Butter  Brown sugar  White sugar  An egg  Flour  Baking powder  Chocolate chips  recipe to follow

Method 1.The first thing we did was get the equipment for our experiment. 2.We followed the recipe to make the cookie dough. 3.Then we got our different trays, silicon, metal, aluminium and glass. 4.We also covered the trays with baking paper. 5.After that we rolled the dough into balls, making sure that they are the same size and squashed them lightly with a fork. 6.First put the metal tray for ten minutes, we must put all the cookies in the same amount of time. 7.After that tray we put in the silicon tray for 10 min. 8.Then the glass tray and finally, the aluminium tray. 9.After that we observed the finished cookies. We measured them and recorded our results. Then we ate them !!!!!!!

Research Cookies were invented by Ruth Graves. She invented them in her restaurant ‘The Toll House’ The treat instantly grew popular.

Results The metal tray made the brownest, highest and crunchiest cookies. The cookies were just over 2cm high, at the highest point. They were only 7cm wide so they were the smallest cookies. When we tasted them they were a bit too hard and not at all gooey. The cookies were not very cracked like the other cookies. The glass tray cookies were really soft and not cooked enough. They were really gooey, pale in the middle and brown on the edges. These cookies were only 1cm high but they were 7.5 to 8cm wide. They didn’t pass our perfect gooey test. The silicon tray made cookies that were gooey, cracked and crunchy on the outside. We think this tray makes the best cookies for our taste buds. They measured 7.5 cm wide and they were the most cracked. They tasted delicious. And finally the aluminium tray made the biggest cookies. They were 8.5 to 9cm wide. These cookies were the flattest cookies, but they were the biggest and a close second. They had a gooey inside and crunchy outside. They were also very cracked

Conclusion In conclusion, we think the fan bake might of effected the results because fan bake makes cookies brown. Our hypothesis was correct. The silicon tray made the best cookies. They were delicious…..but…we wonder if the results would have been different if it was just n normal bake???
