2 Do you like rocks as much as I do? Do you ever wonder how rocks are formed? If so, lets go rock hunting.

3 After you complete your rock hunt you will need to: 1. Write about your rock encounters in your Science Journal. 2. Tell the class about your rock hunting adventure.

4 1. The class will be divided into groups of three students. 2. While on your rock hunt, you will have to investigate and record in your journal the names of all the rock types that exist on earth. 3. You will have to provide a drawing or a picture of each rock type that you have discovered on your rock hunting adventure.

5 4. In your Science Journal, you will have the following information: a. The name of each rock type that you have discovered on your rock hunt. b. A drawing or picture of each rock type below the name of that rock type. c. The name of a rock belonging to each rock type. d. One sentence or more describing the characteristics of each rock type.

6 e. One sentence or more describing the forces on earth that created each rock type. f.One sentence or more describing where each rock type is found on earth. 5. Each student in the group will have to tell the class about one of the rock types that they discovered on their rock hunting adventure.
