How to Read Scripture Aloud DOCTRINE OF THE BIBLE

WHO NEEDS THIS?

WHY READ SCRIPTURE ALOUD? Exod 24:7 Then [Moses] took the Book of the Covenant and read it in the hearing of the people. And they said, “All that the LORD has spoken we will do, and we will be obedient.” Deut 6:6-7 And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.

WHY READ SCRIPTURE ALOUD? Deut 31:11 When all Israel comes to appear before the LORD your God at the place that he will choose, you shall read this law before all Israel in their hearing. Josh 8:34-35 And afterward he read all the words of the law, the blessing and the curse, according to all that is written in the Book of the Law. There was not a word of all that Moses commanded that Joshua did not read before all the assembly of Israel, and the women, and the little ones, and the sojourners who lived among them.

WHY READ SCRIPTURE ALOUD? Neh 8:8 (cf. 8:1-7; 9:3; 13:1) They read from the book, from the Law of God, clearly, and they gave the sense, so that the people understood the reading. 1 Tim 4:13 Until I come, devote yourself to the public reading of Scripture, to exhortation, to teaching.

WHY READ SCRIPTURE ALOUD? “The most effective way to communicate one’s sense of the importance of the reading of Scripture is to read so as to make the sense of the passage clear.” - Thomas McComiskey

I will therefore make preparation for it." So David provided materials in great quantity before his death.
