2 2013 Nominations EID 4-H Tags Required for Kansas State Fair and Kansas Junior Livestock Show (via David Kehler) – Traditional 4-H tags can be ordered through KSRE bookstore until supply is out (approximately 2 years) Tags must be put administered by agent, DNA samples can be pulled by families Website, www.YouthLivestock.KSU.eduwww.YouthLivestock.KSU.edu – Forms, tag and DNA envelope information, “Check Nominated Livestock” link

3 2013 Nominations (continued…) Late Nominations accepted: if postmarked within 10 days of due date – $15 late fee, signed agreement, probation list $10 Incomplete Nomination Fee – Lack of signatures, initials, payment, forms, DNA, etc. – Encourage Ag/4-H agents to sign after form is completed

4 County Fair Premium Auction Lists As an Ag/Livestock/4-H Agent, we ask you to keep a list of all nominated animals within your county/district for your records Please send us a list of nominated livestock who have gone through a county fair auction after the completion of your fair, as they are ineligible to compete at the Kansas State Fair and Kansas Junior Livestock show

5 EID 4-H Tags Not required for county use, just Kansas State Fair and Kansas Junior Livestock Show (As of now)Can be ordered via David Kehler on a pre- paid basis Traditional 4-H tags can be ordered through KSRE Bookstore until supply runs out (hopefully no more than two years) Eventually, EID tags will be the only available tags through KSRE

6 Kansas Junior Specie Producer Days Junior Swine Producer Day – February 16, 2013 – Early registration: $10 by Feb. 1; $15 after Feb. 1 – Topics to be covered: selection, nutrition, pig care, showmanship – Mini Skillathon, non-competitive Junior Meat Goat Producer Day – TBD - 2013 – Early registration: – Program TBA

7 K-State Animal Sciences Leadership Academy Goal: to further develop young leaders within the livestock industry through an engaging summer experience Will focus on increasing knowledge of Kansas’ diverse livestock industry, as well as building participant’s leadership skills. Sponsored by Livestock and meat Industry Council June 5-8, 2013 Applications due March 15 – Program TBA
