8 www.cdac.in C-DAC,Kolkata 8 C-DAC All Rights Reserved Project Completed (Digital Library) - Being the Regional Mega Scanning Centre has already digitized over 14 Million pages from above 34,000 Rare & Copyright Free books by installing the Book Scanners at different Library premises through out the state of West Bengal. Those books have already uploaded in the website and available in the http://www.dli.ernet.in. - The Centre had also developed a Digital Content Repository for Books, Manuscript and Audio-Visual Performance of Baul Songs using Open Source Software “ Fedora ” with over 34,000 Books / Journals and 250 Baul Songs with Metadata-based search & retrieval. - Bengali OCR with above 90% character level accuracy on trained singular size font has been developed and unattended batch mode conversion is also possible. - A Digital Repository containing 250 different folk Songs has been created as a R&D infrastructure for supporting research on content-based Information retrieval.http://www.dli.ernet.in

OCR & OHR - Developed first version of demo model of Basic on-line Hand written Isolated Character recognition system for Bangla. The system can handle alphanumeric characters for limited datasets. - It has been showcased in Experience Workshop EXP ’ 09 at IIT Delhi, December, 2009 and also in National Workshop on National programme on Perception Engineering (NPPE), J.U., June, 2010. - The system has been tested by CDAC Pune, GIST Group and benchmarked.

Collaborating agencies: C-DAC, Kolkata and NICT, Japan. Objective: 1. Development of an Automatic Facial Expression Analysis Engine to classify basic prototypic facial expressions. 2. Formation of video database of facial expression of 50 subjects. Scope: Classification of six basic emotional facial expressions namely, Happiness, Surprise, Anger, Fear, Disgust, Sadness from a video sequence.

Features: It can handle all alphanumeric characters, clusters used in Bangla Handwriting. System takes online pen tablet data as input. 10 such data can be input at a time. Output is stored in Unicode file format. Easy to operate. Editing facility for wrong entry. Acceptable recognition rate in writer dependent mode. Application Areas: On-line form processing. Expected Outcome Development of data base of handwritten signature samples in Indian (Bangla,Hindi) script and Japanese scripts for joint use. 45 www.cdac.in C-DAC,Kolkata 45 C-DAC All Rights Reserved About E-Nose Electronic Nose senses complex odours using an Array of Sensors (called “sensor array”): each tuned for odour of a family of volatile compounds. Odour stimulus imprints a characteristic electronic pattern as fingerprint (or smell print) on sensor array. This smell print is statistically classified and resolved with suitable pattern recognition engine as a measurement of odour of the sample. In short, Electronic Nose is “A scientific, reliable, repeatable, physical, non-invasive, affordable real-time techniques for various applications like food quality assessment, environmental polution detection, medical applications, explosive detection etc.

To develop Course materials for various Cyber– forensic training modules. The course materials will be developed by CDAC Kolkata for cyber forensic course delivery for students, Police, Judiciary and System Administrators. The developed Training facility can also be used for cyber forensic analysis of the respective Police Department (the Stakeholder ) in each state. Mass Awareness

Finally the project will deliver an “A complete training setup with training modules for cyber forensics & digital analysis which can also function as a lab for cyber forensic activities for the state.” Respective State Police Departments will take-over and sustain the facilities.
