2 Shelflisting Translations Objective: Translations should sit next to the original publication on the shelf Multiple translations of a work should sit on the shelf alphabetically by language Translation table is used for this purpose

4 When to Use the Translation Table When a uniform title plus language is provided AND When main entry is a personal author or title Add the numbers in the table to the Cutter for the main entry

6 Additional Rules If two languages are named in the uniform title, Cutter for the 1 st language If the caption reads “By language, A-Z,” Cutter for the language itself Example:.E5 for English.F7 for French.G4 for German For translations of serials classed in the same number, assign successive Cutters so that translations are in alphabetical order by language
