7. New York State Variable Speed Drive Farm Program Program ran from 1999 to 2003. Funding source was the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA). 572 dairy producers across the state participated in the program, installing and receiving rebates for milking vacuum pump variable speed drives. The program saved 10 million kWh, 2.92 tons of NO x emissions, and delivered $1.2 million first-year energy savings to participants.

10. 2008 SARE, New American Farm Conference, March 25-27, 2008 / Kansas City, MO Diesel Emission Reduction Program Educated farmers in Eastern Washington State about no-till direct seeding and provided incentives for each acre switched from conventional tillage to no-till direct seeding. Ran from December 2006 to December 2007 Helped 21 farmers enroll over 16,000 acres into the program and helped save over 26,000 gallons of diesel fuel, a 59% reduction in fuel use.

An energy audit records and analyzes energy use and recommends actions to reduce energy usage and/or increase production.
