3 Define social problem/difficulty. Discover the personal history of the social problem. Dream about what it would be like with the social problem solved. Design a solution for the social problem. Deliver the solution for the social problem. Debrief and evaluate the process.

4 Communication Information processing, reasoning, synthesis Critical thinking and analysis 5 A’s (ask, access & acquire, analyze, apply, assess)

5 Students choose famous person to research. They will write a short paper about the person. After writing the paper, they will create a power point on the person and then present it to the class.

6 Collaboration Teamwork Global citizenship Self awareness

7 5 th grade students will participate in a science unit on hatching chicken eggs. They will work within their own school on a daily basis, keeping data. Weekly, they will collaborate online via Skype with another 5 th grade class in the school district. After all of the eggs are hatched, within groups, the students from both schools will work together to create a story in Voicethread about the eggs hatching.

8 Creativity Innovation Artistic proficiency

9 Using a personal social issue, students will create comic strip conversations demonstrating the correct way of dealing with their social mishap. 10 Technological literacy Critical thinking and analysis Graphic literacy

11 Students create a role play of a social skill that the class has been working on. Once they have created the role play, they will use Voicethread to record the role play so that other students can make comments.

12 Internet safety Be true about who you are

13 Lesson is team-taught with the librarian. Students are taught all aspects of internet safety. Students sign a digital oath at the end of the lesson.
