1 Highlights from 2009-2010

2 Quality Career College Committee QCC Committee has worked hard this year to develop the Career College Quality Initiative A web-based application to facilitate a self assessment survey, student satisfaction surveys, faculty satisfaction survey, standard admissions testing, facility/equipment surveys, standard course modules Issued an RFP in fall 2009 OACC Board ratified the committee’s choice of firm to develop the application once a $30,000 commitment from OACC members is reached

3 Career College Quality Initiative Promotion and implementation of the Quality Initiative Getting OACC Members involved and excited Continuing discussions with the Ministry about the potential for overlap with collection of Performance and Accountability Measures information

4 Student Services Committee OACC student population is growing: almost 30,000 students (representing about 65% of total PCC student population) Improvements to Ontario College Search, OACC’s student portal Outreach to high school students with a membership in the Ontario School Counsellors Association Creating an OACC Alumni web page Engaging potential students and graduates with new groups on Facebook and LinkedIn

5 More Outreach Continue to grow OACC student population Develop and deliver an outreach program to ensure private career colleges are an option for high school graduates in Ontario Launching an OACC Alumni Association to grow our network of graduates

6 Membership Growth & TCAF OACC gained 30 new members in 2009-2010, which helps strengthen our voice Proposal to create a REACT Team for early intervention An approach to assist schools in crisis to minimize hits to the TCAF fund and benefit the entire sector

7 Continued Advocacy Working with the Ministry and actuarial firm to try to influence how premiums are calculated for TCAF Working on behalf of the sector to ensure financial reporting requirements are fair Working to improve the TCAF process Working with Employment Ontario to resolve issues around Second Career (with the recent $600 million, 2-year commitment announced in the 2010 budget)

8 Outreach & Marketing Dental hygiene and paralegal programs: Examples of effective outreach that OACC facilitated in 2009-2010 Hiring a media communications coordinator to get good news stories out about career colleges Newsletters, news releases, OACC website improvements Working to raise the PCC sector’s public profile

9 Advocacy & More Outreach Online programs and OSAP eligibility Continue to reach out to accrediting bodies More PCC educational and training workshops Awareness campaign –The Career College Challenge

10 Ministry Relations Re-creation of a branch at the MTCU devoted to PCCs Re-establishment of the Deputy Minister’s Advisory Group Attendance at political fundraising events

11 Continued Ministry Dialogue & Advocacy Roll out of the Ontario Qualifications Framework Development of program standards and assessments Ensure OACC is able to participate in the third-party assessment process
