4. This is David Quick facts about :  He is a shepherd—a person who takes care of a flock (group) of sheep  He lives in the countryside  He has a master who allows him to look after his sheep  He is a hard worker and takes his work seriously 1

5. You are about to follow David along in his interesting story. when you are ready to read along and discover his story. What is your name? How old are you? Where do you work? 6. It all started one day when David was carefully watching his sheep graze on the edge of the forest… …when a hunter suddenly came riding out of the forest. Continue David’s Story 3 4 5

7. I will pay you more than any of the sheep that might be lost if you show me the correct way. There is a sheep path leading there from here, but it leads into so many other paths. I ' m afraid you will get lost. My lad, can you tell me the way to the nearest town ? Could you come with me and show me the correct way ? Oh sir, I cannot do that ! I have to watch over the sheep in case a wolf attacks them. But I promised to stay with the sheep. My master could not trust me again if I left them.

8. Well, let me stay with them while you run and find a guide for me. But I could run after them. Do you not trust me ? No ! You tried to make me break my promise to my master. How do I know you will keep your word to me ? You are right. I wish I could trust my servants as much as your master can trust you. Point out the right direction for me, and I will try to find the town myself. At that, the hunter laughed… The sheep would not know your voice. If you would call them back from danger, they would not come.

9. Hurray !! Our prince ! We thought you were lost ! Just then, some hunters rode out of the forest. When they saw the hunter besides the shepherd, they yelled… And all the hunters left together in a hurry 6

10. A few days later, a messenger of the prince came to take David to the prince. The messenger said… If my master can get another shepherd to take care of the sheep, I will come. This made David very happy, but he knew he could not forget his own duty to his master. So he told the messenger… This is a message directly from the prince : “ I want you to leave your field here and serve me at my castle fields. You are a worker I am sure I can trust.” Very well then. Good day to you. 7

11. A few weeks later David’s master found another suitable shepherd for the sheep. He told David he was free to go… …so David went to the castle to work for the prince.

12. I love working for the prince ! The prince had even more sheep in the field next to the castle… Baaaaa! THE END! Baaaaa! THE END! Continue …David loved working for the prince… …He became the most faithful and trusted worker of the prince because he was faithful and always kept his promises. 8
