2 Rexina, a Spectacled Owl Pulsatrix perspicillata inhabits southern Mexico, Trinidad, Brazil, Paraguay and Northern Argentina.

4 Eddie with Matilda, a Kookabura The "Laughing Kookaburra" uses its “laugh” to establish territory amongst family groups. It can be heard at any time of day but mostly at dawn and dusk. Hearing kookaburras in full voice is one of the more extraordinary experiences of the Australian bush

5 Laughing Kookaburra Dacelo novaeguineae The Kookaburra seizes snakes behind the head and kills them by dropping them from a height, or carries them to a perch and batters them senseless with its big bill before swallowing them ©BLBrett 2010

6 Coco, a Yellow Nape Amazon Parrot, sings “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” Amazon parrots are the best talkers in the parrot world, next to the African Grey parrot.

7 Amazona ochrocephala auropalliata Yellow naped Amazon Parrots are native along the Pacific coast of Central America The Yellow Naped Amazon is famous for being an excellent companion bird. They are intelligent and good talkers

8 Rio is a Hyacinth Macaw from Brazil The Hyacinth Macaw is an endangered species due to over collection for the caged bird trade and habitat loss.

9 Rio, How high can you fly? Annual grass fires set by farmers can destroy nest trees. Regions previously inhabited by this macaw are now unsuitable due to cattle-ranching, hydroelectric and agriculture.

10 The Hyacinth Macaw has been hunted for food. Native People in Brazil use its feathers to make headdresses. The Hyacinth Macaw Project is an awareness project encouraging artificial nests and coordinating ranch owners to protect macaws
