1 Welcome To… Rome, Madrid, and Paris! By Christie Kremer

2 Benvenuto a Roma, l'Italia! Hello! And welcome to Rome, Italy! My name is Christie Kremer and I will be showing you many interesting things about Rome. Including, the culture, places to see, restaurants and food they eat, transportation, and unique things about the cities! Let’s get started. Most Italians are Roman Catholic, Italy is home to Opera music, many Italians enjoy it. All Italians have very good manners and have a love for life! They greet people with hugs, kisses (depending on who it is) and they always speak loudly and express themselves with hand gestures when they speak.

3 Luoghi da vedere a Roma! There are many places to see in Rome. Some of the most popular ones are… The Roman Coliseum Fontana Di Trevi (Trevi Fountain) St. Peter Basilica

4 Roman Coliseum The Roman Coliseum is considered the greatest works of Roman architecture. The construction of the building started in 72 AD, and ended in 80 AD. It was mostly used for gladiatorial contests and entertainment in the medieval era.

5 Fontana Di Trevi The Trevi Fountain (Fontana Di Trevi) is 26 meters tall, and 20 meters wide. It’s the largest fountain in Rome, and one of the most famous in the world. It is the end of the aqueduct, Aqua Virgo.

6 St. Peter Basilica St. Peter Basilica was once the largest church ever built, and it’s still one of the holiest places in the world. The dome inside the church was designed by Michelangelo. The door on the left of the building is called the Door Of Death because of it’s traditional use of the exit for funerals.

7 Ristoranti e cibo che mangiano Italians eat different foods than we eat here in America. Some of the restaurants they eat at are… Da Lucia Agata e Romeo Afredo ed Ada I will only describe what type of foods they eat at Da Lucia… The most popular thing is Artichoke, whether it’s deep fried, or simmered in olive oil. Pasta, from Rigatoni, to pasta e ceci. A popular dessert is the ricotta cake.

9 Bienvenido a Madrid, España! Welcome to Madrid, Spain! Now that you have enjoyed your relaxing stay in Rome, it’s time for a little more excitement! The culture of Madrid is different from ours… Spaniards enjoy bullfights, and one of the most famous places to have a bull fight is the Plaza de Toros de la Ventas. People in Madrid really know how to enjoy life. They have parties and in between parties and work, they take advantage of the beautiful weather. Madrid is usually recognized as the art capital. It is filled with some of Europe’s largest art museums and galleries.

11 Plaza de Toros de la Ventas Welcome to the Plaza de Toros de la Ventas! I will be showing you a few things about this place… It is the home to bullfighting in Spain It is the third largest bullring in the world Construction began in 1922 and ended 7 years later in 1929.

12 Teatro Real Construction of the building lasted about 30 years because of funding Queen Isabel the second loved opera, so she took interest of the construction Before it was completed, Teatro Real was used for a dance hall, and powder stores.

13 Museo del Prado Museo del Prado has one of the largest art collections in the world It is best known for its assortment of different types of art It is Spain’s most popular tourist attraction

14 Restaurantes y alimentos que comen. Some of the most famous restaurants in Madrid are… La Corral de la Morería Café de Chinitas Botín Some of the foods they eat at La Corral de la Morería are… Andalucian Gazpacho Morería Paella And for dessert… Chocolate Coulant and Tahiti Vanilla Ice Cream

16 Bienvenue à Paris, France! Welcome to the City Of Love! Now after all that stuff about bullfighting, it’s time to sit back, relax, and learn about Paris, France! Today, France is one of the world’s biggest business and cultural places, where people enjoy art, music, media, and fashion. Paris has many operas Paris is also known as The City Of Art, which means they have lots of art galleries, art museums, and many people enjoy it.

19 Arc de Triomphe One of the most famous attractions in Paris It was made to honor those who fought and died for France in the French Revolutionary It has the names of all the people who fought and died in the war inscribed on the arc

20 Notre Dame Cathedral It was built on the site of the first Christian church in Paris Construction of the building began in 1163 Is the second most popular monument in Paris

23 Learning Target Answer I can explain how culture (literature, language, arts, customs, and beliefs) defines my chosen group in the world today and how this group shows a unique perspective. The culture of each city defines them because it shows who they are, what they believe in, what they like, and more information that is only about them. They show a unique perspective because it tells people that one city is different from other city’s cultures, and how they are only them, and not copied from others.

24 How or Why Question How does the culture make these 3 cities stand out from each other? It shows that the cities are not the same as any other cities or countries. It just shows that they are unique, and are different from other places.
