2 What a bright idea! Ever step outside and think to yourself, “Ohmygosh! It’s so bright out here! I wish I had a pair of sunglasses!” How much light is actually blocked by these sunglasses? How do each pair of glasses compare to the others? We designed this experiment to test how much light is blocked by sunglasses and to see what their benefit actually is.

5 Follow Up * There is a large range of prices for the different sunglasses. Students will then be asked to determine which pair of glasses is the best deal. * We know that the pupil constricts when it is exposed to light. As a supplement to this experiment, we will have students discuss the anatomy of the eye. Specifically what parts of the eye are responsible for constriction and dilation.
