Four hundred years ago went to America British people, the Pilgrims. Only native Americans lived there. The Pilgrims left England from a town called Plymouth and now there is a town in the USA with the same name. The Pilgrims took their language to America. So the Americans and the British speak the same language – but with some differences!

There are many natural wonders in the USA. The most widely known is Niagara Falls. It is an Indian word which means “roaring waters”. Other attractions are Yellowstone and Yosemite National Parks, Grand Canyon, and the vast desert between Salt Lake City and Reno, Nevada.

16. Flag of the United States is the official national flag of the United States.
It consists of 13 horizontal stripes, 7 red alternating with 6 white, and in the upper corner near the staff, a rectangular blue field, or canton, containing 50 five-pointed white stars.
The stars represent the 50 states of the Union.
Because of its stars, stripes, and colors, the American flag is frequently called the Star-Spangled Banner, the Stars and Stripes, or the Red, White, and Blue.

tyranny (the broken chains lie at her feet)
Liberty’s right hand holds a torch that is a symbol of liberty.
The Statue was designed by the French sculptor Frederic Bartholdi.
It was built in France-in July,1884.
It was brought to the USA in 350 pieces on a French ship called the
“Isere” (in June,1885)
There are 354 steps inside the statue and its pedestal. There are 25 windows in the crown. The seven rays of Liberty’s crown symbol
the seven seas and seven continents of the world.
