2. THE HELPING VERBS is, am, are, was, were be, being, been has, have, had do, does, did will, shall, should, would can, could may, might, must THESE ARE THE ONLY HELPING VERBS

4. THE DEFINITION DEFINITION: a verb that comes before the main verb in a sentence. Together, the helping verb and the main verb form a verb phrase. Sometimes a word-such as not- seperates the helping verb from the main verb. helps main verb express tense, mood, and voice.
