16 and the Third Millennium
Long term strategy and the Third Millennium Internal Organisation and Quality assurance in the PA Partnership with international Universities, Institutions and Entrepreneurs

17 The Third Millennium Social Challenges
New Social challenges The 8 Millennium Development Goals are the frontiers of the global growth The interdependency principles Underline the need of managing a global society from the economic, environmental and social point of view The aim at Sustainable development Identify the need of new paradigms for economic and social development aligned with the environment constrain The crisis of the traditional economy which is affecting the whole globe is another alarm which is advising all of us that new directions need to be taken Competences, Right Attitudes and New Capacities become key elements!

18 The added value of Cooperation for Development and the Universities
Cooperation4Development and the universities Learning principles of Cooperation4Development create positive values that may be useful into any global frame people will work These values may lead to a generation of responsible individuals (North & South) able to truly act in that worldwide “challenge for global Development” All Universities need to prepare the Citizens & the Professional of The Global World

19 The role of Technical Universities: scientific research for innovation
Cooperation4Development: The POLIMI Technology & Innovation have always represented key advantages for competitive performances. Technology & Innovation alone are not enough anymore. Only driven by Human factors and coupled with the principle of Social Responsibility They may build a good set of instruments and values able to support our civil society in the “challenge for global Development and human promotion” Using Researches and Relationship for “innovating” the way of cooperating between countries

20 The role of Technical Universities: scientific research for innovation
Scientific Research and University Cooperation It aims at transforming the idea of technology transfers in a mutual and bilateral construction of new knowledge and technology for autonomous development It aims at promoting Science and Technology at the service of the community and offers non conventional framework where applying it. Innovation still need to overcome frontiers…all the geographical economic and social barrier somehow limiting human and social development

21 Scientific Research and Innovation
The role of Technical Universities: scientific research for innovation Scientific Research and Innovation The needs of Innovation based on Science and Technology has been recognized by the international community as a proper mean for development Research is precondition to innovation for local development Science and Technology should be looked at as instruments serving social needs In the North of the world innovation aims mainly at the frontiers of technology In the South of the World innovation aims mainly at renovating technology for the local contest

22 International Cooperation Projects and joint activities
International Projects 132 projects were presented to the EXPO’2015 committee as examples Teaching Curricula upgrading, review, student exchange Staff upgrading/Staff exchange By realising Partnership among Universities (north-South) Research Joint Research Twinned Master’s Thesis It is possible to promote Technology Transfer The cooperation among university - industry - institution which is the proper framework for development Promoting a culture of research and innovation best practise in the industrial sector technology at the service of the community 22
