2 Requirements Support of SRS, VMM (UDP packets), VME Several groups can run at the same time Each group should be able to start, stop and modify its DAQ without any consequences for the other groups Trigger system : – Beam (TGC) – Cosmic (RPC and/or TGC) 2

3 Implications: Each experiment should have its own daq pc (part of gif++ infrastructure) NO NEED to mix the UDP DAQ and VME DAQ : they will never run simultaneously !! Each computer will be able to run UDP DAQ or VME DAQ A central computer could do the event builder 3

6 How does it work ? 1.Selection of the trigger system : beam or cosmic 2.This trigger is delivered to each readout detector 3.Each experiment decides running with UDP DAQ or VME DAQ. Each DAQ PC has both DAQ. 4.For example, PC1, PC2 and PC3 are UDP DAQ and PC4 is VME DAQ 5.After a trigger, the DAQs are reading the values and sending it to a PC which combined all these data. There is a veto signal to avoid to get trigger during the data taking/reading/transferring 6.The central PC gives x,y for each detector including coming from the trigger chambers (RPC/TGC) 6

7 A lot of work … Trigger signal Event tagging Busy signals, timeouts Event building, timeouts Dynamic insertion/removal of detectors ??? Run control (Finite State Machine) : Configure, Start, Pause, Resume, Pause … Interaction with the radiation sensors ? This is becoming a very large project! 7

8 Plans In Israel : 2 quadruplets 40x60 cm2 : strip, wire and pads with ASD readout and VME DAQ  trigger system Simulation of SRS DAQ and/or VME DAQ Possibility to build a pre pre pre prototype 8
