2 Simplifying Expressions Review  When you are asked to simplify an expression we are looking for you to be able to: Combine like terms…pieces of a mathematical expression which are exactly the same. And then re-write and equivalent expression in “simplest form.”

3 Simplify the expression: 2x + x 2 – 3 + 3x – 3x 2 – 1 Drawing: x x x2x2 x x x x2x2 x2x2 x2x2 1 1 1 1 Create and Remove any Zero Pairs! And then write the write the expression in simplest form. Expression in Simplest Form: 5x – 2x 2 – 4 Practice writing some expressions in simplest form. After you finish each question raise your hand so your teacher can check your solution.

4 Solving Multi-Step Equations Review  When you are asked to solve an equation we are looking for you to be able to: Combine like terms (if necessary) Then find the solution by isolating the variable:  First eliminate any units by adding or subtracting  Then multiply or divide to find the value of one variable.

6 Writing Multi-Step Equations Review  When you are asked to write an equation we are looking for you to be able to: Use the given in the problem situation to create an equation. Then use your equation solving skills to find the solution to the problem situation.

7 Seth’s age is 7, which is 3 more than half of Regina’s age. How old is Regina? Verbal Model: Define the variable(s): x = Regina’s age Regina = Seth+ 3 Mathematical Representation (as an equation): Solve this equation with your teammates…raise your hand when you are done.
