Information Literacy in North Ayrshire: from theory into practice Piloted in six primary schools by Primary Education Resource Co-ordinators (Percs) between December 2004 and February 2005 Included meetings and consultation with Senior Management Teams and teaching staff Delivery to small groups of targeted classes Also piloted in two secondary schools by the Learning Support department Information Literacy Toolkit: Pilot

Information Literacy in North Ayrshire: from theory into practice Launched in May 2005 to NA Literacy coordinators Authors of ILT and Percs gave presentations about background and pilot to ILT Primary schools were asked to bid for Percs’ time in schools over the next two sessions Twelve schools ‘signed-up’ immediately with another 15 in 2006/2007 A timetable was given to interested schools and Percs each worked in two schools each term with either one class for up to seven weeks or four classes two weeks each. Information Literacy in North Ayrshire: from theory into practice The Future CPD courses for teaching staff to continue to raise awareness of ILT for ACfE, author visits, national reading initiatives Introduce Probationer teachers to ILT through CPD programme ILT to be included in new ICT programme of Study for primary schools Continue to work with Secondary School Librarians to share good practice Use ILT in public libraries with Children’s Library Staff and young readers
