2 Current situation & Initiatives According to a study made by PREDIF (Representative Platform for People with Physical Disability) in 2010, There are 1544 official museums in Spain but only 42 museums of Spain are fully accessible (2,72%) The situation has improved slightly since 2010, but there is still much work to do… Private and public entities are working together to make culture and arts accessible for everybody. The following projects are the best example of the involvement of society into making the world accessible for everyone.

3 Tur4all Mobile application aimed to find the best leisure options for accesible tourism. Developed by PREDIF with the help of Fundación Vodafone. See the video for more information!See the video for more information! (YouTube Link)

4 Support for third party exhibitions, museums and galleries, providing the services for subtitling, accesibility supervision, edition of easy-reading guides and adaptations for visual or hearing impaired people. Development of art and artists with one single objective: improvement. Help entering the art circuit (exhibitions, press coverage) and help with the accessibility of the venues. Support of well-known artists. 5 Accessible Museums National project, funded and developed by Fundación Orange, to make all museums accesible for everybody. The technicians study the museums and provide the needed aids for those with visual impairments, hearing impairments, cognitive impairments and physical impairments.

6 Associations Spain’s main Associations have established a dialogue with the Public Authorities and the Ministries to help our cultural heritage and our artists with accesibility. The main associations that pressure the governments to take actions are active in training disabled people, evaluating accesibility and performing cultural visits with disabled people to raise awareness about the barriers.

7 Fundación Lesionado Medular Disabled people are able to study art in the different schools available in Spain … if there are no barriers. However, many of the buildings are not accessible, so alternatives are needed for our artists. Our schools are directed by professional teachers, and cover different areas. Although the teachers are non-disabled, all the students have spinal cord injury, and there is a tutorization system in which the students who have been in the school longer help the new students, forming a supporting net.
