3 Langas į ateitį is a Society modernization initiative launched by private business companies in 2002 Mission - to promote the use of internet in Lithuania encouraging society to use e-services and in this way stimulate the growth of the standard of living, as well as Lithuania ’ s competitive ability among European and World countries Members: OMNITEL, Swedbank, SEB bankas, IT company ATEA Partners: Ministry of Interior, Microsoft Lietuva, public relations company PR Service, law firm LAWIN and Public Policy and Management Institute Langas į ateitį (Window to the Future) background

6 Langas į ateitį became a stimulator in PIAP development in 2002-2008 Integrating private, state and ERDF a net of over 800 PIAPs was established till 2008

7 Society training projects 20 000 people involved in Internet trainings in 2003 (private business funds) 50 400 adults in “ Computer Literacy Basics for a Lithuanian E-citizen ” in 2006-2008 (ESF) Over 5000 online courses participants in 2008-2009 (MS Unlimited Potential) Total result – over 75 000 people trained

12 The Rolling Snowball Model: From Idea to Massive Movement EU Structural Funds provided conditions to extend the planned initiative to the large scale. Even very strong business enterprises alone are not capable of essentially changing the situation in Lithuania but with Structural Funds support the goal has been reached.
