2. The sum of 3 consecutive integers is 66. a) Write a variable equation for the given information. Assign variables: Let, x = the 1st integer x + 1 = the 2nd integer x + 2 = the 3rd integer x + x x = 66 Simplify 3x = 66 b) Find the integers. The first integer is x 3x = 66 1st integer: Subtract − 3 − 3 3x = 63 The second integer is x + 1 Divide 3 3 2nd integer: 22 x = 21 The third integer is x + 2 3rd integer: 23

3 Algebra I Concept Test # 5 – The Coordinate Plane Practice Test
The perimeter(P = 2l + 2w) of a rectangle is 24 cm. The length is twice the width. Find the area (A = lw). Assign variables: Let, l = 2w w = w P = 24 Substitute into the perimeter formula. Simplify 24 = 2(2w) + 2(w) Find the area (A = lw). 24 = 4w + 2w A = (8)(4) Multiply 24 = 6w Divide A = 32 6 6 4 = w Area = 32 cm2 8 = l Find the length. The length is twice the width.
