3 Divergent Plate Boundary – Area where plates are moving apart. Examples- Mid-Atlantic Ridge African Rift Valley Convergent Plate Boundary – Area where plates are moving together. Examples - A)Collision Boundary – Area where 2 continental plates collide creating mountains like the Himalayas in Asia. B)Subduction Zone – Area where an oceanic plate is forced under a continental plate; this is where volcanoes are formed. Transverse Plate Boundary – Area where two plates are sliding past each other. Examples – San Andreas Fault in California.
