1 The Church is Born Acts 1:1-11
Super zeros to Superheroes

2 Acts 1:1-8 1 The first account I composed, Theophilus, about all that Jesus began to do and teach, 2 until the day when He was taken up to heaven, after He had by the Holy Spirit given orders to the apostles whom He had chosen. 3 To these He also presented Himself alive after His suffering, by many convincing proofs, appearing to them over a period of forty days and speaking of the things concerning the kingdom of God. 4 Gathering them together, He commanded them not to leave Jerusalem, but to wait for what the Father had promised, “Which,” He said, “you heard of from Me; 5 for John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.” 6 So when they had come together, they were asking Him, saying, “Lord, is it at this time You are restoring the kingdom to Israel?” 7 He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or epochs which the Father has fixed by His own authority; 8 but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth.”

3 Acts 1:9-11 The Ascension 9 And after He had said these things, He was lifted up while they were looking on, and a cloud received Him out of their sight. 10 And as they were gazing intently into the sky while He was going, behold, two men in white clothing stood beside them. 11 They also said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into the sky? This Jesus, who has been taken up from you into heaven, will come in just the same way as you have watched Him go into heaven.”

4 Super zeros to Superheroes
John 15:5 to Philipians 4:13

5 Jesus earthly ministry becomes His heavenly ministry.
He was born of the Spirit. Luke 1:35, Matthew 1:18-20 He was anointed of the Spirit. Matthew 3:16-17 He was filled with the fullness of the Spirit. John 3:34 He was led of the Spirit. Matthew 4:1 He spoke and taught by the Spirit. Luke 4:18 He cast out demons by the Spirit. Matthew 12:28 He healed the sick by the Spirit. Matthew 12:28; 8:16 He was offered on Calvary by the Spirit. Hebrews 9:14 He was resurrected by the Spirit. Romans 8:11 He gave commandments by the Spirit. Acts 1:2 He baptised and empowered his Church by the Spirit. Acts 1:5,8 He directs and governs His Church by the Spirit. Revelation Chapters 1-3.

6 Christ the cornerstone of the Kingdom.
His resurrection undeniable. His word irrefutable. His Kingdom unstoppable. The times “unknowable”. We continue the story through the power and leading of the Holy Spirit.

7 Acts 1:4, 8 The Holy Spirit is promised.
Luke 24:49 And behold, I am sending forth the promise of My Father upon you; but you are to stay in the city until you are clothed with power from on high.” John 15:26 “When the Helper comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, that is the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify about Me, Ephesians 1:13 In Him, you also, after listening to the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation—having also believed, you were sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit of promise,

8 The infilling of the Holy Spirit
Words alone cannot describe it, beware! Matthew 7:1 “Do not judge”. James 3 2 Timothy 2:23 “But refuse foolish and ignorant speculations, knowing that they produce quarrels” Kitchen appliances.

9 What I do know… Luke 11:13 If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him?” Jesus told them to wait until the Holy Spirit anointed them. We must work together and support each other. We must take time to listen and do what the Holy Spirit tells us to, when He tells us to do it. We must grow together with each other and with the Holy Spirit’s leading.

10 Description not Prescription.
John 21:25 And there are also many other things which Jesus did, which if they were written in detail, I suppose that even the world itself would not contain the books that would be written. Beware superstition and emotionally driven theories. Obedience is the key. Romans 8:1 Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.

11 The Kingdom expands 8 but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth.” From the religious hub to the political hub. Power is ability to do, the power to bear witness. Matthew 28 :18-20

12 Jesus’ ascension – What it means to us.
Our mission, to be a Holy Spirit enabled superhero. They walked in the sight of Jesus, now it was time to walk in faith in Jesus sitting at the right hand of God interceding for us daily until the time of His return. From super zero to super hero.
