1 Subject Pronouns

2 -used to replace subject of a sentence
Ex: Bob eats and talks. Bob runs and jumps. Bob sleeps. We can replace “Bob” with “he” Bob eats and talks. He runs and jumps. He sleeps.

3 Ex: Sarah and I study. Sarah and I read.
We can replace “Sarah and I” with”we” Sarah and I study. We read.

4 (talking about yourself)
First Person Singular yo = I (talking about yourself)

5 Second Person Singular
tú = you (talking to someone informal / familiar)

6 Second Person Singular
usted (ud.) = you (talking to someone formal / polite)

7 tú v. usted use tú for friends, classmates, people that are younger – people you are familiar with

8 tú v. usted use ud. with authority figures, people older than you, strangers – polite form of “you”

9 Third Person Singular él = he (talking about a male)

10 (talking about a female)
Third Person Singular ella = she (talking about a female)

11 nosotros / nosotras = we
First Person Plural nosotros / nosotras = we (talking about yourself and others)

12 nosotros – a group of all boys, or a mixed group
First Person Plural nosotros – a group of all boys, or a mixed group nosotras – a group of all girls

13 vosotros / vosotras – used in Spain to say “you all” (you plural)
Second Person Plural vosotros / vosotras – used in Spain to say “you all” (you plural) vosotros- boys / mixed vosotras - girls

14 (talking to 2 or more people)
Second Person Plural ustedes (uds.) = you all (talking to 2 or more people)

15 (talking about 2 or more people)
Third Person Plural ellos / ellas = they (talking about 2 or more people)

16 ellos – they (all boys, a mixed group)
Third Person Plural ellos – they (all boys, a mixed group) ellas = they (all girls)

17 1st yo nosotros/nosotras 2nd tú vosotros/vosotras
Singular Plural 1st yo nosotros/nosotras 2nd tú vosotros/vosotras 3rd él, ella ellos, ellas ud. uds.
