Theatre and Literacy Websites A collection of resources by Danielle Greenberg

Drama and Literacy Article This is an article about using drama to teach literacy. It also gives teachers ideas about how to use drama in the classroom. A big issue in educational theatre is how to make theatre activities accessible to teachers who know nothing about it. I think this is a great article because it debunks the myths help by many teachers about using theatre in the classroom. I would definitely recommend this to any teachers who are thinking about using dramatic activities in their classroom.

Reader’s Theatre This website explains what Reader’s Theatre is, how to use it, and provides resources to actually do it. It is a fantastic resource if you want to use Reader’s Theatre in your classroom!

Book Review This website is simply a book review. The book however looks fantastic! It seems to be about how to use the arts in general to teach literacy. The book also includes unit ideas and other resources for teachers.
5
Workshop Guide This is a workshop guide that was done with 3rd and 4th grade students. The author of this workshop provides teachers with three different ways to incorporate drama into literacy education. I think it’s a great resource because these workshops have been done and were successful. This may give teachers hope that they too can do the same thing!

Book This is another book that looks great! It is about teaching literacy specifically through drama. The book is a compilation of lessons that have been tested by the authors. I think this is the most useful website I found out of them all.
