6 CPF support to Implementation of the IPF/IFF Proposals for Action providing information and technical assistance to countries facilitating regional and international initiatives identifying and mobilizing financial resources strengthening political support for sustainable forest management CPF can assist but responsibility for action is in the countries

7 What means implementation? IPF/IFF Proposals for Action implementation means: an assessment of the IPF/IFF Proposals against the existing national forest programme or other forest-related policy frameworks according to national priorities, the integration and internalisation of the IPF/IFF Proposals into existing national processes, and the identification of country-specific action, within national forest programmes or other processes. UNFF: ”countries will set their own national priorities, targets, and timetables for action and will systematically assess and analyse the proposals in their national context”

8 Steps in the assessment process 1. Preparation of the process information and awareness raising involvement of stakeholders agree on process and working arrangements choosing of a facilitator/co-ordinator 2. Assessment of the IPF/IFF proposals for action relevance and priority in national context actors and links to relevant instruments and processes action already taken 3. Identification of follow-up action definition of new action enforcement of existing activities definition of ways of implementation and follow-up
