3 Incomplete Dominance  This is when one gene does not completely hide the other gene.  It is also known as blending.

4 Incomplete Dominance  An example is a female white mouse and a male black mouse producing a gray mouse.

5 Mendelian Inheritance  Gregor Mendel studied traits passed from generation to generation in pea plants such as height, color, and shape.  Medelian principles of heredity: 1. Traits are controlled by alleles, which are types of cells. 2. Alleles are either dominant or recessive. 3. Alleles on chromosomes are spread out onto different sex cells.

6 Mendelian Inheritance  Here are some traits Mendel found in pea plants.

7 Multiple Alleles  Multiple alleles are different forms of the same gene.  Multiple alleles=more than 2 forms of the same gene in that population.  For example: blood type: there are a total of six alleles= 3 from the mother and three from the father.

8 Polygenic Inheritance  Polygenic traits=more than one gene contributes to the phenotype.  Polygenic inheritance- The inheritance of traits are passed form parents to offspring.

9 Polygenic Inheritance  When a TRAIT is accompanied by a combination of GENES, rather than by a single gene.TRAITGENES  Height, skin color, and eyes are a few examples of polygenic inheritance.  It also occurs in wheat color and production of milk in cows.
