1 What is hand embroidery?
Embroidery is the art or handicraft of decorating fabric or other materials with needle and thread or yarn. Embroidery may also incorporate other materials such as metal strips, pearls, beads, quills, and sequins. A characteristic of embroidery is that the basic techniques or stitches of the earliest work—chain stitch, buttonhole or blanket stitch, running stitch, satin stitch, cross stitch—remain the fundamental techniques of hand embroidery today.

2 What you will learn. In this first four minute video you will learn
how to: Place fabric in embroidery hoop Separate two strands of embroidery floss from the six strands so you will have 3 sets of two strands. How to knot one end The outline stitch: AKA backstitch

3 Instructions: Click on hyperlink below to watch first short clip on hand embroidery.
After viewing, prepare your project by placing the provided project in the hoop as shown in video. Prepare your embroidery floss as directed, and thread your needle with first color. Knot one end only.

5 You will begin stitching:
View each of the following videos one at a time and stitch according to directions. You have four colors to choose from. It is up to you what color you use on each part of the crown. Do use the correct stitch for each part. You may not complete each section but can come back to them as needed.
