Certification Management Program Why does oneM2M need certification management program? – Certification management program provides the consistency in the behavior of compliant devices and services, – Thereby, it can provide an assurance of interoperability between various manufacturers’ devices and services – Certification is granted through a testing process compliant to oneM2M specification and requirements Goals of Certification Management Program – Improving interoperability – Shortening the product adoption process – Lowering adoption costs and time – Making product implementations easier to integrate – Providing Confidence & Assurance to Regulators, Manufacturers, Retailers & Consumers © 2014 oneM2M Partners 2

Authorized Test Lab Requirements ** Certification Management Program does not include tasks for conducting test ** Testing can be performed by member using self-testing tool or by authorized 3 rd party test lab according to the testing scope and methodology ** Certification Entity can designate the 3 rd party test lab through considering market demand and regional allocation

Certification Management Program - Option 2 Enforce the brand power for oneM2M logo through 3 rd Organizations e.g. GCF Set-up and establish suitable certification program professionally Strengths No control for certification process. Possibly end-up with high-cost and duplicate certifications (e.g., certifications for common service layer and verticals) Some works such as test spec. development and testing event from Test WG could be conflict to independent certification entity Weakness Negotiate with 3rd certification entity for establishing certification ecosystem (invest certification profits to the ecosystem, etc.) Have authority for certification works such as making program management policy, developing test specifications, management of testing lab, testing tools and test events, etc. Strategy
