2 What is islamophobia? Racist or discriminatory acts directed toward Muslims or persons presumed to be Muslims. Islamophobia is constituted by negative conceptions of Muslims as a collective. Sida 2

6 Survey report on the research in Sweden The studies collected in our survey report point in one direction. The occurrence of negative attitudes and discrimination against Muslims and presumed Muslims are found in all fields of society that have been examined. Sida 6

7 Sida 7 Long standing racism can impact generations of a group or community (1/2)  Racism can prevent members of certain groups from feeling like equal and valued members of society.  Racism can prevent people from having equal opportunities to better their lives and could be a primary reason for higher levels of unemployment and under employment among racialized groups. 8 Long standing racism can impact generations of a group or community (2/2)  Racism can isolate and exclude people, creating resentment and mistrust of others. And prevent groups and communities from interacting with each other and can increase discomfort, fear and resentment.  Racism can result in ongoing psychological stress and anxiety, which can have an impact on work, family life and overall health and well being.
