7 Climate Change The Experience of last 2 decades - Increase in temperature, Erratic nature of rainfall, Recurrence of storms – Effect of Al-nino Climate Change, A reality affecting agricultural crops most adverse. Strategies Adoption of organic farming where ever possible. Organic farming measures act as soil conditioner also. Preparation of Contingent Plan for different Agro-climatic conditions and soils : Late Monsoon Conditions : Late by 2 weeks(upto 30th June), 4 weeks(up to 15th July) and 6 weeks (up to 30th July). Recommendation of late sowing of suitable crop/varieties.

8 Dry Spell Conditions : 1-2 weeks, 2-4 weeks after sowing
Dry Spell Conditions : 1-2 weeks, 2-4 weeks after sowing. Recommendation for moisture conservation, mulching. Heavy/Continuous Rains Conditions : Recommendation of proper drainage arrangements, preparation of Paddy Nursery, Ridge & furrow system of cultivation as precautionary measure. District wise contingency plans are currently available at the district level based on agro-climatic Zone with the recommendations of SAUs i.e. JNKVV, Jabalpur and RVSKVV, Gwalior.
